About me
I'm Fabriano Mariscal, and ever since childhood I have enjoyed exercise. P.E class was my favorite part of the day like most other kids, but I would even do sit-ups and push ups at home, imitating what we would do at school. In my teens I did a few sports in school, but in 2012 I became absolutely obsessed with strength training and I haven't looked back. I got my first personal training certification in 2016 while in college, and soon began training people. I myself really enjoyed chasing numbers on the bar, what I mean by that, is setting records on lifts like bench press. I would compete in powerlifting meets during my college years and really enjoyed that YOU VS. YOU mentality. From my personal experiences in life and on the powerlifting platform, I saw the parallels between growing in the gym and in life. I realized this is what I really enjoy doing, my favorite part about being a coach is when I see clients getting closer to reaching their goals or are feeling much better compared to before they started working with me.
First Rep Origins
In the sport of powerlifting, there are three lifts, which are squat, bench, and deadlift. My favorite lift is the deadlift, there are three attempts on each movement. Getting weight up off the ground without momentum is hard. So the first rep on deadlift is always the hardest in my opinion. When competing in a powerlifting meet, it was always nerve wrecking for me even on my first attempt for deadlift. Thoughts would flood my mind, but I would refocus and pretend it's just another day at the gym. It was that first rep that set the tone for the rest of my attempts, it gave me confidence.
Now First Rep Gym is giving that same confidence to anyone willing to put in the work.
